Iran kicks off...buy the dip again?

Another bite at the apple?

Feels like the 69th time I've seen negative Iran headlines which followed positive headlines...do we buy the dip again here and is it really that easy?

Macro

Iran/US has re-escalated after attakcs on commercial shipping in Hormuz with both sides claiming they responded to retaliation. Trump now saying the ceasefire is over and threatening to hit Iran tonight. WTI is up about 5% on the headlines in the last 24H so we are seeing some actual movement, while NDQ is only 0.6% lower retracing some of its early losses in futures. At this point you would think the market has been desensitised to these headlines but I guess not...or maybe everyone just knows the playbook now where you're supposed to buy into the Friday capitulation...actually as I've been faffing around while typing this stocks have rallied back almost closed to unchanged with a lot of things off yesterday's lows...so it's nice to see that dips do indeed continue to get bought.

Equities

I really like this dip in AI/memory stocks...I'm more bullish on memory than I am on neoclouds because I think there is more of a moat, but I think everything in the AI space that is down 20-30% here is a great buy. I added more risk in $MU yesterday and was hoping to add in the 800s but (un)fortunately we've rebounded today so I'll be patient about adding more risk there. I think people have shat themselves on memory due to a combination of profit taking, feeling toppy, thinking we're at memory cycle top (I think it persists longer), capex cut fears and memory breakthrough....OK that's quite a lot of things lol...but as you know I'm a believer in price first narrative second, and I think all it takes is for something to rally (SK Hynix ADR perhaps) and everyone to realise this stuff will go on for much much longer. The launch of frontier models (Fable + GPT 5.6) will substantially increase demand to a degree I am not clever enough to calculate, but I do think from an attention standpoint we could take another leg higher and that's what's most important.

Crypto

Majors kinda just hanging out here, moved off yday's highs in line with stocks but it's tough to ignore a massive outperformance of crypto vs stocks in the past week which makes a change. What I DO think is interesting in crypto right now is the degen market. $ANSEM running to $400M is something we haven't seen in a VERY long time, and that was closely followed by $CASHCAT, a memecoin on RobinHood's L2 running to 150m yesterday...it literally moved from like 5m to 150m yesterday which is fucking insane. I'm sure there is a large amount of "fake it til you make it" here by the forces that be, but these are encouraging signs for the crypto's "casino crowd" as lots of traders will have made real money and will start to feel more confident about rolling the dice, while those who have missed it will have a higher propensity to trade on the next runner. We just have to hope that the max extract lads don't come to soon, but the atmosphere to me right now feels more akin to Spring/Summer 2023 when opportunities started to present themselves to the last few people left in crypto, compared to beginning of 2025 when TRUMP topped the market. Even if you're not taking risk, I think this is absolutely the best time to stay focused and stay locked in.
